5 summer Desserts to make for your next summer party
If there’s one thing I’ve learned after years of baking for parties, birthdays, BBQs, and summer gatherings, it’s this:
Not every dessert belongs at a summer party. Some melt too quickly. Some are too heavy after a meal.
And some look beautiful but are a nightmare to serve.
When I’m planning a summer gathering, I try to choose desserts that are easy to make ahead, easy to serve, and feel fun and seasonal.
These are the five desserts I’d happily put on a summer dessert table every single year.
They each bring something different to the table, and together they create the perfect balance of chocolate, citrus, nostalgia, color, and crowd-pleasing flavor.

Mint Chocolate Chip Cupcakes
These cupcakes are inspired by one of my favorite ice cream flavors.
Rich chocolate cupcakes are topped with mint chocolate chip buttercream and finished with an ice cream scoop for the cutest presentation.
They’re nostalgic, fun, and always a conversation starter.

Summer Sugar Cookies
Nothing says summer quite like decorated sugar cookies.
These cookies feature citrus wedges, pool floats, bathing suits, iced drinks, and bright summer colors that instantly make any dessert table feel festive.
They’re almost too cute to eat.
Almost.

Lemon Blueberry Pie Cookies
If summer had a flavor, I think it might be lemon and blueberry.
These cookies combine sweet blueberries with bright lemon flavor in a dessert that’s equal parts beautiful and delicious.
Perfect for brunches, baby showers, and summer parties.

White Texas Sheet Cake
This is one of those desserts that disappears every single time.
Soft vanilla cake topped with a warm frosting and plenty of flavor, it’s simple, classic, and perfect for feeding a crowd.
If you’re serving a larger group, this is always a smart choice.

S’mores Bars
Chocolate, marshmallow, and graham crackers.
Need I say more?
These bars capture everything we love about summer campfires without requiring an actual campfire.
They’re easy to transport and always a hit with kids and adults alike.

My Summer Dessert Table Formula
When building a dessert table, I like to include:
One chocolate dessert
One citrus dessert
One decorated dessert
One nostalgic dessert
One crowd-feeding dessert
This creates variety and ensures there’s something for everyone.

What I’d Serve Alongside These Desserts
To round out a summer gathering, I’d pair these desserts with:
Together they create an easy summer menu that feels special without being complicated.

My Favorite Summer Hosting Essentials
The best summer desserts aren’t necessarily the fanciest ones.
They’re the desserts people reach for twice.
The ones kids get excited about.
The ones guests ask you for the recipe before they leave.
If I were hosting a summer party tomorrow, these are the five desserts I’d be making.
