5 Minute Apple Crisp

Equipment

  • (2) 6" cast iron skillets or 8x8 casserole dish

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 3 tbls finely chopped walnuts
  • 4 tbls sugar
  • 2 tbls packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 tbls melted butter
  • 1 can apple pie filling
  • 1/2 packet cinnamon & spice instant oatmeal
  • vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Whisk together flour, walnuts, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and a pinch of salt. Pour butter over dry ingredients and mix with a fork to break apart large chunks. Set aside.
  • Divide apple pie filling between (2) 6" cast iron skillets or place all apple pie filling in casserole dish. Top with dry mixture.
  • Place skillets or casserole dish on baking sheet and bake until topping is browned, about 35 minutes. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Notes

*This recipe can be replicated with fresh apples & sugar mixture if canned filling isn't your thing.
