It’s fall!! My favorite season of the year. To kick off fall baking, I made the most delicious apple crisp this morning. It took approximately 5 minutes to prepare, 35 minutes to bake and
1/2 cup flour
3 tbls finely chopped walnuts
4 tbls sugar
2 tbls packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
pinch of salt
4 tbls melted butter
1 can apple pie filling
1/2 packet cinnamon & spice instant oatmeal
vanilla ice cream
You will need:
(2) 6″ cast iron skillets or 8×8 casserole dish
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Whisk together flour, walnuts, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and a pinch of salt. Pour butter over dry ingredients and mix with a fork to break apart large chunks. Set aside.
Divide apple pie filling between (2) 6″ cast iron skillets or place all apple pie filling in casserole dish. Top with dry mixture.
Place skillets or casserole dish on baking sheet and bake until topping is browned, about 35 minutes. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
*This recipe can be replicated with fresh apples & sugar mixture if canned filling isn’t your thing.
