How to Create the Ultimate S’mores Board
Today is National S’mores Day, but I think any day is a great day for s’mores. For as long as I can remember in my adult life, I have enjoyed putting together baskets and trays of s’mores ingredients during the summer months. S’mores are the perfect sweet treat at the end of a summer day. Light enough that even if you aren’t hungry, you can make room. Or if you are hungry, you can try a few different combinations.
I’ve always offered guests a variety of ingredients to create their own s’more. From different cracker options (if you haven’t tried a s’mores with ritz.. it’s time) or different chocolates. My motto is always “Choose your own Adventure”, and it works with s’mores too!
How to Create a S’mores Board
First you’ll want to find a crate or tray that has an edge around it, so your ingredients don’t spill off the sides. (I often use this tray for dessert and charcuterie boards).
Place a few small bowls sporadically around the board with different spreads. My family loves Cookie Butter and Nutella!
Fan graham crackers around the board in different stacks. I recommend using a variety of chocolate and honey flavored grahams. If you’re feeling adventurous, try adding in some Ritz crackers!
Break up chocolate bars and layer them around the board. For a tasting experience, offer a mixture of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, cookies & cream, peanut butter cups and even chocolate with nuts.
Your board should be filling up! Start to layer in marshmallows around the board, tucking them into holes and filling in any gaps. For color, I added some sliced strawberries. Hello, chocolate covered strawberry s’more? Yum!
Don’t be afraid to include other options that sound fun to you. I added some thin pretzel twists to my board because I love anything salty sweet.
Your S’mores Board is your own unique creation. Make it fun! Once it’s full, don’t forget to grab a small package of wet wipes to bring to the fire. S’mores are sticky and guests will be grateful to have something to wipe their hands.
