Homemade Dunkaroos (Easy DIY Cookie Dippers)
Remember Dunkaroos?! I took my signature sugar cookie recipe and turned it into the cutest little homemade cookie dippers! Mini sugar cookies, frosting with colorful sprinkles, and individual containers that make them perfect for sharing.
These are such a fun idea for team snacks, after-school treats, birthday parties, party favors, or dropping off something sweet to a friend. And the best part is how easy they are to customize for just about any occasion!

How to Make Homemade Dunkaroos
If you’ve made my sugar cookie recipe, you already have everything you need to get started! It’s the same recipe I use for so many of my decorated cookies, just cut into smaller shapes so they’re perfect for dipping.
For this batch, I used little scalloped circle cookie cutters and a vanilla frosting mixed with rainbow sprinkles for that classic Dunkaroo look.
What You’ll Need
Let’s Make Them!
1. Bake the cookies. Make a batch of my signature sugar cookie dough, roll it out, and cut into small shapes. Bake according to the recipe and allow the cookies to cool completely.
2. Make the frosting. Prepare the buttercream and fold in rainbow sprinkles. I like adding a few extra sprinkles on top, too!
3. Fill the containers. Use a small cookie scoop to add frosting to one side of each container. Stack your mini cookies in the other compartment.
4. Package them up. Close the lids, and if you’re gifting them, tie a little baker’s twine around each one. That’s it!

So Many Ways to Make Them Your Own!
This is where you can really have fun! Once you have the basic idea down, there are endless combinations of cookie flavors, frosting flavors, colors, and shapes.
Switch up the cookie shapes. Try hearts for Valentine’s Day, pumpkins for Halloween or Thanksgiving, Christmas trees for the holidays, or stars, flowers, and numbers for birthday parties. You can even match the shapes to a party theme or team colors!
Change the frosting colors. Instead of classic rainbow sprinkles, tint your buttercream to coordinate with the occasion. Pink for Valentine’s Day, pastels for Easter, orange for Halloween, or red and green for Christmas. You could even do two different frosting colors for a birthday party.
Play with the flavors. Vanilla is always a favorite, but there’s no reason to stop there! My Cookie Class Cookbook includes lots of different frosting flavors and cookie variations, so you can mix and match your favorites.
Think peppermint cookies for Christmas, chocolate chip cookie dippers, sprinkle-filled birthday cake cookies, or even cookies with crushed Oreos mixed into the dough. Pair them with a complementary frosting flavor, and you’ve got a completely different treat!
Make them gluten-free. You can also make these using my gluten-free sugar cookie variation, so they’re easy to adapt for friends and family who need a gluten-free option. Just be sure to use gluten-free mix-ins and sprinkles, too.

A Note About the Containers
I used these individual cookie dipper containers, and I love how they have separate compartments for the cookies and frosting. They make assembly so easy, and everything looks adorable packaged together.
One thing I did notice is that if you leave the cookies in the containers for too long, the grease from the cookies can start to show through the packaging. It’s not a big deal if you’re making them to enjoy or hand out right away, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re preparing them ahead of time.

gifting supplies:
Perfect for Gifting (or Keeping!)
I love little treats like these because they feel special without being complicated. Make a batch for a sports team, tuck one into a lunchbox, bring them to a birthday party, or drop a few off for neighbors and friends.
And don’t forget, you can make them as simple or as festive as you’d like. A classic round sugar cookie with rainbow sprinkle frosting is just as cute as a holiday-themed version!
