Peppermint Protein Hot Cocoa (Healthy High-Protein Hot Chocolate Recipe)
The coziest, chocolate-mint treat with a boost of protein!
There’s nothing better this time of year than ending the day with something warm, cozy, and a little indulgent… but also something that keeps you feeling good. Enter: Peppermint Protein Hot Cocoa: my new winter obsession and the easiest BetterDays recipe you’ll make all season.
I used the BetterDays Chocolate Protein Powder, and it gives the cocoa the perfect chocolatey flavor without needing extra cocoa powder or sweetener. Truly SO good. I made mine with Coconut Milk (my favorite extra-creamy plant milk!), but you can use whatever milk you love, almond, oat, dairy… it all works.

Peppermint Protein Hot Cocoa
Ingredients
- 1 scoop BetterDays Chocolate Protein Powder
- 1 cup milk of choice I used coconut milk, it's so good!
- 1/8-1/4 tsp peppermint extract add slowly, it’s strong!
- Pinch of salt makes the chocolate flavor richer
Instructions
Microwave Method:
- Pour your milk into a mug and microwave 60–90 seconds until hot.
- Whisk in 1 scoop of BetterDays chocolate protein powder until completely smooth.
- Add peppermint extract a tiny bit at a time — a little goes a long way.
- Add a pinch of salt and whisk again.
- Top with whipped cream, crushed candy cane, or chocolate shavings.
Stovetop:
- Warm your milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until steamy (don’t boil).
- Whisk in the protein powder until smooth.
- Add peppermint extract + salt, whisk, and pour into a mug.

Why I Love This
It tastes like a festive peppermint mocha but without the sugar crash, and you’re getting a full serving of protein. Cozy season win.
