10 Reasons the Beverly Hills Hotel is Worth the Hype, and Why We Keep Going Back

There’s just something about The Beverly Hills Hotel.
It’s not just the dreamy pink facade or the swaying palms or the iconic banana leaf wallpaper (though that is what makes it the cutest hotel on earth). It’s the feeling you get the second you pull up the driveway, that mix of excitement, nostalgia, and that little sparkle of Hollywood magic.

I grew up watching Troop Beverly Hills, it’s still one of my all-time favorite movies. So to me, the Beverly Hills Hotel has always felt like the ultimate nostalgic backdrop to something special. And now, after celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and special celebrations there, it feels like family tradition.

My daughter Ally and I recently spent a few days at the hotel for Mother’s Day, soaking up the sunshine, lounging by the pool, and eating our way through all the signature spots. It was slow, simple, and sweet, exactly what I love most about our time there. We had the famous silver dollar pancakes at The Fountain Coffee Room (Ruth and Eucario always make breakfast extra special), enjoyed the signature soufflé at The Polo Lounge, and came home feeling full in every way.

Over the years, the hotel has surprised us with cappuccinos topped with our photo, chocolates printed with our family pictures, and room greetings that make us feel so special and celebrated. Those little touches? That’s what brings us back. Again and again.

And I know I’m not alone.
my travel favorites
The Beverly Hills Hotel is iconic for a reason. Here are just a few of the reasons people fall in love with it:
- Timeless Hollywood Glamour – From Marilyn Monroe to Elizabeth Taylor, the hotel has long been a favorite for Hollywood’s elite. You can feel the history in every corner.
- That Signature Aesthetic – The pink and green color palette, the banana leaf wallpaper, the striped pool loungers, it’s all instantly recognizable (and super photogenic).
- The Polo Lounge – Whether you’re there for the McCarthy Salad, the iconic souffle or just the people-watching, dining here is an experience in itself.
- The Stories in Every Bungalow – Each one is a little world of its own, full of character and charm.
- Unmatched Service – The staff makes you feel like the only guest on the property, whether it’s your first time or your tenth.
- Tradition in the Making – For many families, the hotel has become a place to celebrate life’s milestones year after year.
- Pop Culture Legacy – It’s been featured in countless movies, songs, and stories. It’s fun to spot it in movies when you’re back home!
- The Escape Factor – Somehow, even though it’s in the middle of Beverly Hills, it feels like a serene hideaway.
- The Silver Dollar Pancakes – Yes, they really are that good.
- A Place That Feels Like Home – Whether it’s your first visit or your fifteenth, there’s something about the Beverly Hills Hotel that makes it feel familiar, comforting, and personal. It’s more than a hotel, it’s a memory.
At the hotel:
There’s plenty to do without even leaving the property. Start your morning with a quiet coffee on the patio outside your room or by walking the grounds. Everything is beautifully landscaped and feels like a peaceful garden. Spend your day at the pool in one of the pink-striped cabanas, sipping something cold in true Beverly Hills fashion.

Don’t miss the Fountain Coffee Room. It’s an old-school diner-style bar with just 19 stools, but the service is warm, the food is comforting, and the experience is unforgettable. At The Polo Lounge, chat over lunch or book a table under the twinkle lights for dinner, you might even spot a celeb or two. And if you’re celebrating something special, call ahead! They always find the sweetest ways to make you feel known and celebrated.
You can also book a Flytographer session during your stay. We did this for our 20th anniversary and I’m so glad we captured our memories with beautiful photos. Though you can’t have professional photography on the hotel grounds, there are plenty of places right outside the hotel to have photos done.

Around the hotel:
While the hotel feels like its own little world, it’s also perfectly located for a fun day out. Just down the street is Rodeo Drive, even if you’re just window shopping, it’s iconic. You can stop by Erewhon for something trendy and caffeinated. You also could drive a little further out to Malibu for lunch by the water. But trust me, you probably won’t want to leave the hotel for long!

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning to a place that feels like home, there’s no place quite like The Beverly Hills Hotel. It’s a little slice of history, a whole lot of charm, and the perfect spot to make memories that last forever.
Travel tips!
Over the years, I’ve picked up a bunch of little habits that make traveling way smoother (and way less germy), and I always get asked about them when I fly.
Let’s start with the obvious: wipe. it. all. down. I pack a travel-sized pack of disinfecting wipes and go to town on the seat, armrests, seatbelt buckle, tray table, window area, and touchscreen. Yes, I might look a little intense, but it’s worth it. You never know who sat there before you or what they were dealing with.
You can always toss a small zip pouch in your carry-on with these: hand sanitizer, lip balm, moisturizer, gum, earplugs, a mini deodorant, and a face mask for sleeping. It’s my “in-flight survival kit” and keeps me from digging through my bag mid-air.

Honestly, most of my tips are super simple, but once you get in the habit, they totally change the way you travel. You feel more organized, less stressed, and a little more like the kind of person who has it all together at the gate.
Here are some outfits I wore at the Beverly Hills Hotel

The food:
The food at the hotel is something truly special. It’s not just about what’s on the menu, though it’s full of classics, it’s about how it’s served. The little touches that the staff add truly make dining here unforgettable.
The team at the hotel goes above and beyond, and I really mean that. If there’s something you’re craving that’s not on the menu, just ask. The chefs and staff are incredibly accommodating and somehow always make it happen, from off-menu dinner requests to customized desserts and everything in between. I’ve never felt silly asking for something a little different, they genuinely want you to enjoy yourself.
The Polo Lounge is the hotel’s most iconic dining spot. It’s classic Beverly Hills, through and through. And what makes the experience really stand out is the service. It’s thoughtful and personal, the kind where they remember your name, your favorite drink, and that you like your salad dressing on the side.

Speaking of salad, one of the most famous dishes here is the Neil McCarthy Salad. It’s a longtime favorite on the Polo Lounge menu. It’s fresh, simple, and totally addictive. I love it so much I had to learn how to make it at home (I’ll share the recipe below). If you’re going to try one thing during your visit, let it be this salad, it’s so good!

Downstairs, The Fountain Coffee Room is more casual, but just as charming. It’s a tiny, 1950s-style counter tucked away beneath the hotel, and it might be my favorite hidden gem. The silver dollar pancakes are fluffy perfection, and if you’re lucky, Ruth or Eucario will be behind the counter making you feel right at home. And of course, room service at the hotel is next-level. Not only can you order almost anything you want, but it arrives beautifully presented.

What I love most about dining at The Beverly Hills Hotel is that it never feels rushed or overdone. Whether you’re celebrating something big or just in the mood for an easy lunch by the pool, the food and the people here make it feel effortless, like you’re part of a long, lovely tradition.
