How to Make Easy Sombrero Cookies

Cinco De Mayo is this Saturday!!  I can’t believe we are already in the month of May.  Every year I make these fun sombrero cookies for my kids class parties and now that we have Jenny Cookies Bake Shop, we sell them in store as well.

If you don’t live near our shop or just feel like making your own, here is a quick and easy step by step to make your own sombrero cookies!

What you’ll need:

Round sugar cookies (get my recipe here)
Gumdrops or Dots candy
Nonpareil rainbow sprinkles
Buttercream icing

Start by drawing two circles on a round cookie, one on the outer edge and one in the center.

Hold cookie upside down and dip into a bowl of rainbow nonpareil sprinkles.  Sprinkles will attach to the icing.

Flip cookie around and pipe a small dot of icing into the center of the center circle.

Attach gumdrop or Dot to icing.
