Tassel Garland Tutorial by Sparkle Pop Designs

Materials Needed:

20″ x 20″ or 20″ x 24″ tissue paper or mylar per tassel
scissors
hot glue gun & glue sticks
ribbons for trimming
Step 1: Fold the tissue paper
*follow the natural folds of the tissue paper
*Mylar can be a little tricky to fold. Take your time when folding and don’t get frustrated. The final look will make the extra effort worth it.
Fold 1- fold in half “hamburger” style
Fold 2- fold in half again “hot dog” style
Fold 3- fold in half for the last time “hamburger” style

Step 2: Cut the tissue paper
*I use a clothes pin to hold the tissue paper together and as a marker for where to stop my cutting
Cut strips 1/2 strips towards the top fold.
2. Leave 1-2 inched uncut at the top
3. Unfold the tissue paper.
4. Cut the folded half. This will provide you with 2 sheets of fringe.

Step 3. Creating Tassel
Begin rolling tissue paper thru the middle crease.
Twist the center (uncut) tissue paper to create your loop.
Secure loop with a dot of hot glue.

Continue for remaining tassels.
*For a 4 ft tassel garland use 10 tassels.
Step 4: Creating your garland
1.Cut a piece of ribbon to secure your tassels to.
*For a 4ft tassel garland use about 6 ft of ribbon. This gives you an extra foot on each end.
2. Tie your tassels one at a time to the piece of ribbon.

*Hang or tie garland to a hanger when complete. The tissue paper is very fragile and will crinkle easily. Hang them until ready to use.  This ensures them looking their best!

If you use any of these recipes, party ideas, or make the tassel garlands using the tutorial, be sure to tag us on social media (@jennycookies) so we can see your creations!  We will be awarding our favorite with a fabulous Wilton prize package next week!!
