Basic Rice Krispie Treat Recipe

- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 10 oz mini marshmallows about one bag
- Pinch of salt
Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper and lightly butter it. This makes removing and cutting the treats so much easier.
In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat.
Add the marshmallows and a pinch of salt. Stir until completely melted and smooth.
Remove from heat and immediately fold in the cereal until evenly coated.
Press the mixture gently into the prepared pan.
Let cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cutting.
Butter your hands or spatula when pressing the treats into the pan, it helps a lot.
For thicker treats, use a smaller pan or cut into large cubes instead of squares.
These are best the day they’re made, but they’ll keep covered for 2–3 days.
