Rice Krispie Treat Ideas (Easy, Cute & Perfect for Gifting)
Rice Krispie treats are one of those desserts I come back to for every special event. They’re quick, familiar, and somehow still feel special when you dress them up a little. Plus, they’re basically impossible to mess up which is exactly what I want when things gets busy.
This post is all about simple Rice Krispie treat ideas using one base recipe and a few fun flavor twists. Cut them into big cubes, hearts, or rectangles, drizzle them, dip them, wrap them up. They’re incredibly flexible and always a hit!

Why Rice Krispie treats work so well for special events
If you’re baking with kids, gifting treats, or just don’t want to commit to something complicated, Rice Krispie treats are such a win.
You can keep them classic or turn them into something a little extra with very minimal effort.
Basic Rice Krispie Treat Recipe
Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 10 oz mini marshmallows about one bag
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper and lightly butter it. This makes removing and cutting the treats so much easier.
- In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat.
- Add the marshmallows and a pinch of salt. Stir until completely melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat and immediately fold in the cereal until evenly coated.
- Press the mixture gently into the prepared pan.
- Let cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cutting.

Flavor variations to try
Once you have the base recipe, it’s easy to customize. I like adding flavors while the marshmallows are melting or folding in extras at the end.

Rice Krispie treats are incredibly easy to dress up:
They’re perfect for school treats, party favors, or adding to a dessert table.
Quick ganache (chocolate or white chocolate)
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
- Heat the cream until just warm and steaming, not boiling! You can do this on the stove or in the microwave.
- Pour the warm cream over the chocolate and let it sit undisturbed for 2–3 minutes.
- Gently stir from the center outward until smooth and glossy.
- Let the ganache cool slightly before drizzling. It will thicken as it sits.
Notes
- For a thinner drizzle, use it while warm.
- For dipping cupcake tops, let it cool until slightly thickened but still fluid.
- If it thickens too much, gently rewarm in short bursts.
- White chocolate ganache works the same way, just swap in white chocolate chips.
