Chewy Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies (Dan’s Famous DK Cookie Recipe)
If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ve probably heard about Dan’s Famous DK Cookies. Our go-to chewy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that everyone asks for. Dan started baking these at least ten years ago, and they’ve been a staple in our house ever since. They are a tried-and-true favorite that never lasts more than a day around here. If you’ve been searching for the best chocolate chip oatmeal cookie recipe, this is it.
They’re soft in the center, crisp around the edges, and filled with just the right amount of chocolate chips. There’s a little oatmeal mixed in, which gives them that perfect chewy texture that makes oat chocolate chip cookies so irresistible. It’s one of those easy oatmeal cookies you’ll find yourself making again and again.
You might recognize this recipe from my first cookbook, Eat More Dessert. They made their debut in the Camp Out Party chapter as “Campground Cookies.” The original recipe didn’t include the touch of almond extract (Dan’s latest twist), but if you prefer a classic flavor, you can skip it and just use vanilla.

They’re simple, nostalgic, and always a hit! Dan swears by a warm cookie and a hot cup of coffee, and I have to agree… there’s nothing better.
