How To Make Summer Survival Kits

Between park days, splash pads, backyard barbecues and road trips, there’s always something and someone needing a bandaid or sunscreen ASAP. That’s where these summer survival kits come in.

I made these for some of Dan’s clients and have been asked how I made them ever since. They’re like a little grab-and-go lifesaver tucked into your beach bag, stroller basket, or car console. Plus, they’re super easy to put together and make really cute gifts for office gifts, a girls trip, or even teen babysitters heading off to camp.

Everything goes into a mesh travel pouch. It’s easy to see what’s inside, and they don’t trap sand or water. I used all summer colors, which makes them feel extra fun and happy.

Here’s what I included in each kit:

  1. AAA batteries – because nothing’s worse than a dead mini fan on a 90-degree day.
  2. Mini fan – compact and essential, especially if you’re chasing toddlers under the sun.
  3. Hand sanitizer – for sticky hands and post-park picnics.
  4. Colorful bandaids – the cute ones always make it hurt a little less.
  5. Chapstick – because summer is brutal on lips.
  6. Sunscreen – reapply on the go, no excuses.
  7. Mosquito bracelets – no one wants to get bit.
  8. Aloe vera gel – for when you do forget the sunscreen.
  9. Face wipes – for sweat, sunscreen and makeup.
  10. Hydration packets – pour into your water bottle for a quick electrolyte boost.
  11. Mesh pouch – functional can be cute!

I added a little customizable gift tag to the zipper for a sweet personal touch and I’m sharing the template I made so you can use it too!

You can keep one in your car, one in the beach bag, and even gift them for a girls trip or summer party favors. They’re thoughtful, useful and easy to customize!

You’re going to love these for heading to the beach or just trying to get through Target with kids in tow. A summer survival kit makes the hot and chaotic summer days feel a little more prepared.
