How to Host a Fiesta-Themed Girls’ Night with Margaritas, Crafts & Churros

Give me a theme and I’ll throw a party. I’ve been dreaming up a girls’ night with bag charm crafting for a while now, and finally made it happen, because nothing says fun like charms and churros! With a fiesta-inspired setup, we mixed margaritas, loaded up on street tacos, and got creative with the cutest DIY project. It was colorful, easy to pull off, and honestly one of my favorite craft nights with friends.
Think of this as a party + craft night with a fiesta twist. Here’s how I put it all together:

The Theme: Festive & Fun Without the Fuss
I leaned into bold colors, playful decor, and easy-to-execute ideas that gave the night a “let’s celebrate” vibe without feeling like too much work. Think colorful cake plates, succulents & cactus, papel picado, and bright flowers from the grocery store. I have a pretty good collection of entertaining pieces but picked up a few new items like colorful margarita glasses and colorful napkins. I linked it all here:

The Food: Street Tacos + Churros, Always
I kept the menu simple but crowd-pleasing:
- A build-your-own street taco bar with all the toppings
- Fresh pico and guac
- My famous 7 layer bean dip
- Mini churros, cactus sugar cookies, and a new coconut lime cookie
- Skinny margaritas & palomas
Tip: Prep the toppings ahead of time and set it all out buffet-style so everyone can make their own plate. Here are my recipes:

The DIY: Custom Bag Charms
The highlight of the night? Our DIY bag charm activity. I had ordered these charm kits from BaubleBar a while back and had been waiting for the perfect excuse to invite my friends over to craft. Each kit comes with everything you need to make up to 10 custom bag charms, so all I had to do was set the table and cue the margaritas.
Everyone lit up when they saw their names on the front of the boxes, but the real squeals happened when we opened the kits and realized our names were included in the beads inside. We gathered around the table, chatting and crafting well into the night. Even after the party was “over,” a few of us reopened our kits and kept creating. It was so fun! This is one of those simple, low-stress DIYs that works for all skill levels and doubles as the cutest take-home favor!

The Vibe: Music, Margaritas & a PINATA?!
Margaritas were flowing, charm kits were open, and the vibes were spicy. I always love to have a little activity at my parties, something creative to do while you’re sitting around chatting. It gives the night a rhythm and makes even the shyest guests feel like they’ve got a place at the table. To make the night even more fun, one of my friends brought the cutest avocado-shaped piñata not filled with candy, but with all the things girls actually want: hair ties, chapstick, mini hand sanitizers, chocolates, eye masks, and other little self-care goodies. It was such a hit and totally added to the fun of the night. The whole evening felt relaxed, joyful, and exactly the kind of parties I love most.

Why You Should Host One, Too
This fiesta girls’ night isn’t just for Cinco de Mayo. It’s perfect for:
- Birthdays
- Team bonding event
- Book club nights
- Bachelorette weekends
- Just-because gatherings

It’s the kind of night that makes your kitchen feel like the happiest place on earth: good food, good friends, and just the right amount of sugar & cinnamon dusted churros.
