Rice Krispy Tees

Equipment

  • 3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margerine
  • 40 large marshmallows or 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies
  • candies (m&ms, nerds, sixlets, etc)
  • Candy Melts
  • cooking spray
  • 9x13 cookie sheet
  • t-shirt cookie cutter

Instructions

  • In a large microwave safe bowl, heat butter and marshmallows at HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.
  • Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until coated.
  • Press mixture into 13 x 9 inch pan coated with cooking spray.
  • One of my tips for working with rice krispy treat batter is to get your spatula wet before you press the mixture into the pan.  It helps to eliminate the mixture from sticking to your spatula.  Try it!
  • After the mixture sets (about an hour), you can begin cutting out your shirt shapes.
  • Kids love to be a part of this process.  My son Hudson was determined to cut out his own shirts.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, microwave white candy melts at 30% power in 30 second increments until fully melted.  Dip rice krispy tee down into bowl of melted candy until the top of the treat is completely coated.
  • Place dipped "tee" on cooling rack or wax paper and decorate!
  • Dip and decorate each treat before dipping the next.  The melted candy will stay tacky long enough to decorate (at least 3-5 minutes).
