How to Host a Storks Movie Premiere Party!
My kids cannot wait to see the new animated movie STORKS movie in theaters September 23rd. I’m thrilled to partner with Warner Bros Pictures to inspire you with some fun party ideas to celebrate this new release.
If you haven’t seen the previews, let me fill you in…
Storks deliver babies…or at least they used to. Now they deliver packages for global internet giant Cornerstore. Junior, the company’s top delivery stork, is about to be promoted when he accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine, producing an adorable and wholly unauthorized baby girl. Desperate to deliver this bundle of trouble before the boss gets wise, Junior and his friend Tulip, the only human on Stork Mountain, race to make their first-ever baby drop – in a wild and revealing journey that could make more than one family whole and restore the storks’ true mission in the world.
To set the stage for a STORKS party, you’ll want to create a backdrop that resembles sky. I used light blue paper and hung a few clouds (pieces of quilt batting tied with clear fishing wire). Super easy to do, and very inexpensive. I picked up a giant bag of the batting at the craft store for $5.
I wanted to integrate pieces of the movie into the table. In the previews you’ll see the storks delivering packages from Cornerstore (essentially their version of Amazon). I thought they’d make cute props for the table and serve as a dessert display.
I picked up kraft shipping boxes at our local shipping store and printed the Cornerstore logo onto label paper. (Download your own Cornerstore logo at the bottom of the post)
The boxes were just the right size to display the cupcakes.
One of the main characters in the movie, Tulip, has curly reddish-orange colored hair. Inspired by Tulip’s unruly do, I decorated the cupcakes to resemble her hair. The technique is quite simple to replicate using buttercream icing and a decorating bag fitted with a 1M Wilton tip. Draw swirls back and forth, up and down around the cupcake until you fill it in completely.
Another fun treat to celebrate the movie are these STORKS rice krispy treats. You’ll need to make a batch of rice krispy treats. (Hint.. If you’re running short on time, pick up a box of pre-packaged treats.) Trim the bottom edges to form a V (beak). Dip V into melted orange chocolate. Let dry. Dip other end into melted white chocolate, sprinkle with white candy shred for a feathered look. Finish with edible eyeballs (attached with melted chocolate).
To wash down all the yummy desserts, serve milk in glass bottles. Using orange construction paper, cut beaks and attach to the glass with a hot glue gun.
Add an orange striped straw for extra decoration.
To round out the sugar, offer guests a STORKS lunch. Fill gable boxes with a fun lunch (fruit, yogurt, apple sauce, sandwich, etc). Tie in flour sack towels to resemble a STORKS package!
I absolutely love all the babies in the movie. Their colorful hair and adorable faces were too cute to leave out! To include them in your party desserts, print images on edible wafer paper and attach to sugar cookies!
To make your own baby cookies, download the baby images at the bottom of the post. You can send them to your local bake shop/cake store or order online.
You’ll need round cookies to attach the images to. You can either bake your favorite sugar cookie or snickerdoodle recipe, pick up a slice-and-bake package to make, or purchase pre-packaged cookies at the store.
To attach the edible image, fill a decorating bag with buttercream icing, fitted with a Wilton #4 tip. Draw a 2″ circle on your cookie and fill it in with icing. It does not need to be perfect!
Peel backing off of edible wafer paper.
Place edible image on icing circle. Lightly press down around the sides to adhere.
Pipe dots around edge of edible image to give the cookie a border.
Voila! Aren’t they adorable?
If you haven’t seen the trailer for the movie, take a look below. We’ve watched it at least a dozen times and each time my children laugh at the exact.same.part. Can you take a wild guess at what my kids think is so hilarious?!
