Spring Flower Arranging Ladies Lunch

Last weekend I hosted a Spring Flower Arranging Ladies Lunch with 35 fantastic women from Oregon all the way up I-5 to Stanwood, WA.  It was the most lovely afternoon.

I went with a yellow, white and green color palette to compliment the spring daffodils, narcissus and wedding bell flowers we’d be using in our arrangements.

The colors were so cheery, they really set the mood for the room.  I’m typically drawn to pinks but was thrilled with the outcome of this event.  Yellow is such a happy color!

I found adorable yellow plastic baskets at Target that I thought would make a perfect lunch basket.  I filled them with delicious sandwiches wrapped in paper and twine, yummy pasta salads and giant cookies from the Snohomish Pie Company.

The dessert table turned out to be one of my favorites to date. It was simple to create, using fresh flower stems attached to the wall with washi tape. I made cookies and cupcakes decorated as flowers, dipped rice krispy treats, lemon bars and a naked cake with a real flower crown.

The ladies arrived with friends, moms, mother-in-laws, sisters and some came alone!  I loved the gals who came by themselves and left with new friends.  It might sound cheesy but it makes me so happy!

One of the things I enjoy most about hosting ladies lunches is seeing familiar faces show up that have attended previous lunches and/or cookie workshops.  It’s fun to get to know each gal a little more every time.  We had a lot of new ladies at this class as well, which is so exciting!  It’s always interesting to hear where they come from, what their background is and how they heard about the lunch. Sometimes we’ve met from my social media or blog, so it’s nice to connect face to face.

For the flower arranging portion of our lunch, Kelli of Country Bouquets Floral led our DIY session.  Kelli is a local florist from Mount Vernon.  Not only is she extremely talented, she just might be one of the sweetest people I’ve met and so knowledgeable in flower design, care and style.  Her love of flowers shines through her every time I hear her teach. I could arrange flowers with Kelli all day long.

Kelli walked us through basic steps of putting together a simple arrangement using seasonal flowers and other greens you could possibly find in your own backyard. I have loved learning her practical tips and tricks for creating pretty flowers that don’t require a crazy amount of time to put together.

The ladies got to work and put together their own arrangements.  It was really neat to see how each of our arrangements turned out so differently, though we were all using the exact same quantities and types of flowers!

It was a warm and relaxing afternoon filled with beautiful flowers, delicious food and an incredible group of ladies.  I cannot wait for my next ladies lunch!

  1. I would love to see any kind of baking workshop! Another cookie decorating class would be great or maybe something different like macarons!

  2. What a sunshine filled day! I love all the yellow and green especially in those white milk glass jars…spring beauty at its finest!

  3. Hi Jenny! I stumbled across your website when I was doing a Google search on farmhouse renovations & I absolutely LOVE your style! You have such beautiful taste and are so talented. I also noticed you’ve used Minted for a couple parties, & I’m a Minted designer! It would be fun to attend one of your ladies lunches sometime. Thanks for being such a great inspiration! -Karidy
