How To Host an Easter Brunch
It’s hard to believe Easter will be here in just a few short weeks. Time to figure out who’s hosting, what, when and where!
Last year I set a beautiful Easter table and at the last minute, made reservations for Easter brunch at one of my favorite restaurants! Ha! I host so often, it was a nice change and a relaxing break to take the holiday off. This year it’s all about brunch. Keep it simple, serve classic favorites and everyone will be happy.
First things first, invites! Whether you’re hosting a small or large gathering, it’s sweet to send an invite in the mail. The invitation is usually my first piece in pulling a party together. I pull my inspiration from the colors and style to plan out the rest of the party. I found these gorgeous invites at Minted and started dreaming up my Easter brunch.
Next in planning an Easter Brunch is deciding on your table linens. It’s fun to mix and match a variety of patterns that are all in the same color family. It keeps your table interesting and fun! Minted carries the most darling fabrics that can be customized into napkins, table runners and an assortment of other items. It’s hard not to get carried away!
To make your Easter morning a bit less stressful, pull your tableware out ahead of time. It will make setting the table a breeze. I used an assortment of vintage pink dishes, gold flatware and mixed in a few pieces of jadite for a pop of mint green.
Flowers add life and beauty to tablescapes. Mix in large arrangements or even a grouping single buds to give your table a little extra Easter cheer.
Bunny ear napkin rings are fun for all ages and add a little extra “Easter” to the table. I found these in the dollar spot at Target!
Don’t be afraid to mix and match different fabrics and textures. My vintage plates are very delicate and sweet but I wanted a little more texture and depth so I added wood chargers underneath (found at World Market).
Personalized place cards are a simple but meaningful extra touch. There are so many things you can use for place cards from small tags, mini chalkboards, leaves, straw tags, personalized sugar cookies… get creative, options are endless!
When it comes time to plan the menu, keep it somewhat basic. It’s fun to experiment with maybe 1-2 new recipes, but stick to classics that you already know how to cook for the rest. The last thing you want is to try a new dish and have it turn out a Pinterest fail.
Offer 2-3 drink options from fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee, sparkling lemonade or fruit infused water. If serving coffee, don’t forget the cream and sugar!
I like to have a few options on the table as part of the centerpiece that guests can eat as an appetizer and keep the main dishes in the kitchen, displayed as more of a buffet style. There is never enough room on the dining table for all of the food! Just be sure you have the essentials like butter, salt & pepper, and syrup on the table to eliminate guests having to get up and down.
You can always move flowers, candles and decor pieces off the table as people begin to eat, to allow them a little more elbow room.
I love to send guests with a small party favor. Easter candy in a glass jar, a packaged sugar cookie or a small votive candle tied with a personalized tag is always special.
For the little guests, I love to give personalized stationary. It’s so important to teach kids the importance of sending a thank you card. I was always taught to not only thank someone in person for a gift or gesture, but also to follow up with a written card.
These also make darling additions to your little one’s Easter basket! Minted makes the cuuuutest personalized stationary. It’s hard to pick just one!
