Tips for Hosting a Celebration Brunch
Whether you’re brunching to celebrate a special occasion or hosting a “just because” gathering, here are a few of my favorite tips for hosting a beautiful brunch.
Serve a pretty cocktail. This brunch punch champagne cocktail is not only stunning but so delicious! Garnish with sliced fruits and edible flowers. Get the recipe HERE.
Make homemade donuts. I love using Wilton‘s simple donut recipe. It lets you decorate in any style you choose—with icing, a Candy Melts glaze or drizzle, sprinkles, whatever you can imagine!
Recipes that don’t require too many tools and ingredients are the best! Pick up a few donut pans (HERE) and a pull out some pantry staples to get started!
Homemade Cake Donuts
Ingredients:
- 2 cups cake flour, sifted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions: Preheat oven to 425°F. Spray doughnut pan with vegetable cooking spray. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Add buttermilk, eggs and butter. Beat until just combined.
To save time and make things easy, I fill disposable decorating bags with the donut batter. This simple tip makes it super easy to pipe equal batter into each donut pan cavity.
Cut the tip of the disposable pastry bag and fill each cavity 2/3 full.
Bake 7-9 minutes or until the tops of the donuts spring back when touched. Let cool in pan 4-5 minutes before removing.
Involve your guests in the prep: Because cake donuts are best served fresh, it’s fun to let guests decorate their own freshly baked donuts at brunch. Offer a variety of icings and toppings for guests to create their own donut masterpiece.
Set up a chocolate dipping fountain. A chocolate fountain is such a delicious addition to any brunch. It’s easy to get this fountain started with these melting chocolate wafers.
Display a variety of treats on a tall tiered tray for guests to dip with. I love using miniature cinnamon rolls, muffins, donut holes, berries, marshmallows, scones and rice krispy treats.
A chocolate fountain guarantees brunch guests endless dessert-dipping fun.
Be sure to enjoy the time with your guests. When hosting, it’s easy to get sidetracked making sure your guests are taken care of and the food is staying warm/cold/stocked, etc. Make a conscious effort to sit back and enjoy your party as much as your guests are!
