Must See Movie: Paddington 2
This post is in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures
Following the worldwide hit “Paddington,” one of the most successful family films of all time, the much-anticipated sequel is here!! Paddington 2 is in theaters this Friday, January 12. Follow Paddington as he spreads joy (and marmalade) through London as he searches for the perfect gift for his beloved Aunt Lucy’s hundredth birthday. The journey will warm your heart and make you fall even more in love with sweet Paddington.
This past weekend I had the pleasure to attend a Paddington 2 premiere event in LA and host a special cookie decorating activity. The event was held at the London Hotel in West Hollywood where each guest was treated to a screening of the film with plenty of popcorn, candies and soda!
After the screening, there was a gorgeous and colorful tea party waiting with a special guest, Paddington himself!
After tea, the kids made their way over to the cookie decorating stations to decorate a Paddington bear sugar cookie. I prepped simple pieces (mini m&m eyes, edible red hat, m&m nose) and icing bags to make the process easy for the kids.
The kids loved it! There were some that took a lot of time making each detail perfect and some that were too excited to eat the actual cookie and smeared the icing on as quick as possible.
I loved seeing their final creations. No two alike!
Paddington Bear Sugar Cookies
Paddington is simple to replicate using my signature sugar cookie and icing recipe (found HERE).
Step 1: Cut sugar cookies into Paddington’s face. (A monkey face cutter works great).
Step 2. Draw brown icing around Paddington’s face using a Wilton #4 decorating tip and brown buttercream.
Step 3: Fill in face with brown buttercream.
Step 4: Add Paddington’s signature red hat! (Simple to make using red fondant or red candy melts).
Step 5: Add two M&M Mini eyes.
Step 6: Add a dot of light brown icing using a Wilton #4 tip to make Paddington’s nose.
Step 7: Add a regular size brown M&M (placed sideways) to finish his nose.
Step 8: Admire your adorable work!
The event was a magical all around, but the cherry on top was getting to meet the talent in the movie, Hugh Grant and Hugh Bonneville. Such an exciting day. I can’t wait to take my kids to see Paddington 2!
