How to Throw a Beach Tailgate Party!
Summer is the perfect excuse to invite friends to the beach for a Tailgate party! Pack up the kids, grab the essentials and head to the sand.
There’s nothing my kids love more than playing at the beach. The best part is, it’s free! Pack a few sand toys, buckets, maybe a bottle of bubbles in your beach bag and they’ll be entertained for hours.
We knew we’d be staying for the evening, so we brought along our travel bbq to cook dinner. It’s lightweight and easy to fold up and roll down to your spot on the beach! It has an electric start which is so convenient. My husband was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use.
While we set up, the kids played in the sand. Be sure to pack a dry set of clothes for kids and maybe a sweatshirt or hoodie for when the sun goes down.
To keep everything cold, a cooler is a must. I absolutely adore this red Coleman cooler, it has that vintage look to it that I love!
Don’t forget beach chairs! Sitting in sand is fun for awhile but it’s nicer to relax in a great lounger. I found these cute chairs and couldn’t decide which color I liked best so I went with a combination. They looked so nautical against the sand and the water.
On a hot sunny day, it’s nice to provide some shelter for shade. We packed along a canopy for the kids to hang out under. The day was a scorcher so it was good to have a canopy for them to take a break and play on a beach blanket in the shade.
Just because you don’t drive a truck doesn’t mean you can’t tailgate! I backed my SUV right onto the beach and pulled out a picnic spread. Lay a tablecloth in your trunk (or tailgate) and set out the essentials. We went with a simple dinner of hot dogs, chips, lemonade and fruit.
Our family loves to play games on the beach. We brought along our cornhole set and played a few rounds after dinner.
The kids found all kinds of beach treasure, especially my son, Hudson.
Before the sun goes down, be sure to capture the gorgeous beach light with a family photo!
After a couple hours of playing hard, everyone will be ready for dessert. End the night with a s’mores bar on the beach!
Some beaches have fire pits available but if not, bring your own! Don’t forget the roasting sticks and firewood.
We had such a fun night. The kids were so exhausted from all the fresh air and sunshine that they climbed right into bed when we got home! I call that a win.
