Jenny Cookies Workshops!
The Jenny Cookies Workshops were a huge success!! It had been years since I’d taught a cookie class so it was great to meet new faces and teach eager bakers my cookie baking tips and tricks!
The workshops were hosted at Romp in Bellevue, WA. I’d done a couple parties there recently and fell in love with the space. It’s filled with cute furniture, a gorgeous kitchen, amazing staff and it’s suuuuper clean.
The goal of the class was not only to teach attendees how to bake and decorate sugar cookies, but also to welcome them into a space that felt similar to what you’d experience at one of my own parties.
Each table had it’s own color palate and theme. I had AMAZING sponsors involved that helped to make it a huge success and beautify each table.
Lady Yum KILLED it with her macarons. If you live in the Seattle area and haven’t been to her shop.. RUN. I am crazy for her macs!
Each place setting welcomed guests with a darling tea towel created by So Vintage Chic and a gorgeously wrapped box filled with goodies (ribbon and boxes by Nashville Wraps).
Frost Donuts and cupcakes were displayed down the center of each table for guests to enjoy. Another MUST TRY if you are in the Seattle area. They just opened their second location in Everett…which is super dangerous for me since I live close by. Their crullers are my favorite!
Not only were the Nashville Wrap boxes gorgeous, the hand lettered welcome tags by Krisanna Reiff really took them to another level. I’m so impressed (and quite honestly jealous) of her calligraphy skills. I tried it once and let’s just say, it’s a lot harder than it looks..
Our fabulous drink bar by Cascade Ice. Their variety of flavors is never ending and they all taste great! We went with a Sparkling Mixed Berry Water mixed with cut up strawberries, a Pineapple Coconut with chopped pineapple, and for the kicker..we combined sparkling wine (prosecco) with their Pink Grapefruit. The Pink Grapefruit was definitely the winner among the ladies!
After everyone grabbed a drink and found their seats, we got the party started. I gave the gals a lesson in cookie baking, from making the dough, rolling it out, to turning them into actual cookies. I heard a lot of “I think I can actually do this” and “it’s a lot easier than it looks!”
After the cookies were baked and cooled, I demonstrated a variety of decorating techniques and then let the gals try it for themselves. They did so great!!
I was beyond thrilled to include Wilton as a workshop sponsor. Wilton is my go-to brand for all things baking and decorating related. From decorating tips to icing colors, to cake pans and sprinkles, Wilton has it alllllll. I was so excited to send each attendee home with their new Color Right System. Color Right is their new food coloring gels which make the most vibrant and brilliant colors without any hassle. It’s a must try for all cake and cookie decorators!
One of my favorite party shops Via Blossom sent the cutest paper straw tubes for each attendee. Paper straws are one of my party staples! They dress up just about any drink but also double as a fun cake pop stick!
The darling tea towels by So Vintage Chic were themed for each table. They were all so cute I couldn’t pick which one I liked best! Kendra (owner of So Vintage Chic) also makes the cutest pillow covers (as seen here) and a variety of other tea towels. She’s offering a special 20% discount to my readers using code JENNYCOOKIES. Go go go, it’s good until June 11, 2015.
I loved how excited the girls got over even the littlest things. Harper Gray made the cutest recipe cards for each attendee. One gal said, “I have your book but I love having this little recipe card to bake from!” Thank you Harper Gray, best designer ever!!
Each gift box included a cookie cutter from The Cookie Cutter Shop. They have hundreds of inexpensive cutters in every shape imaginable! We gave unicorns, pineapples, whales, mason jars and strawberry cutters to the attendees. If you are looking to grow your cutter collection, you have to check out their site!
Lindsay P Designs sent each guest home with two of her adorable fabric wrapped note cards. She treated me to one of her beautiful custom made aprons which I nervously wore for the class. I know it’s what they’re for, but I hate getting pretty aprons dirty!
Not only did Nashville Wraps supply our gorgeous gift boxes and ribbon, they also gave each guest a roll of twine. I can’t ever have enough bakers twine. It ALWAYS comes in handy. Most often I use it to package cookies. I get asked a lot how I package my cookies once they’ve dried and crusted over. Nashville Wraps has the most wonderful packaging options from cello bags to every box size you could dream of. Whatever you choose, adding a twine bow always gives it the perfect finishing touch.
Another can’t live without product of mine is WASHI TAPE. What’s washi tape? It’s decorative tape that comes in handy for just about everything. I can’t even list all the options because it’s literally endless. Most often I use it for paper, crafts, party decor and packaging. Check out CuteTape.com for a billion other colors and designs.
I came across Love and Lion’s shop on Instagram and fell in love with their custom party tattoos. How fun right? I don’t think I’d ever get a real tattoo, but I love the idea of a fun tat for a night! They created these custom tattoos just for our workshop! From cute sayings like “Eat Cake For Breakfast” and “Baker Babe” to rolling pins, whisks and spatulas. They were the cutest!
I had so much fun meeting and teaching the workshops. It meant so much to me that people traveled near and far to attend. Thank you all who came and I look forward to seeing your Jenny Cookie creations!
For those of you who weren’t able to make it, I’m giving away a gift box ($85 value) from the workshop with all the goodies listed above! Enter below:
And a huge GIANT thank you to Lora Grady Photography for the stunning photos from our event. I’m crazy for Lora’s photos! She specializes in wedding, portrait and family photography so I was thrilled when she agreed to shoot the workshop. She is such a talent. Thank you! Thank you!
